Charleston: Райский отдых в TownePlace Suites! (Mt. Pleasant)
Charleston: Райский отдых в TownePlace Suites! (Mt.
Alright, let's get real, shall we? Finding a decent hotel that doesn't break the bank AND offers something more than just a bed is tricky. So, I just got back from a stay at the TownePlace Suites in Mount Pleasant, Charleston, and you know what? I've got some thoughts. Lots of them. Prepare for a ride, because this isn't just your average hotel review; it's a full-blown, slightly chaotic, absolutely honest recount of my experience.
First off, the name – "Райский отдых" (Paradise Rest) – sets the bar pretty high, да? I'm picturing palm trees, endless margaritas, and a personal butler named Boris. Reality, as always, is a little… different. But still, it’s Charleston, which is automatically putting up a plus in the column, ya słyszałem?
Accessibility & Safety:
Okay, accessibility first. This is important, and I was genuinely pleased. They seem to be making a real effort. Wheelchair accessible is listed, and I saw ramps everywhere. Elevator, check. That's a HUGE plus. Facilities for disabled guests is what you want to see. Honestly, it felt like they'd thought about everyone.
And safety? Well, that's a big deal these days isn't it? I felt safe. CCTV in common areas и CCTV outside property – I'm always a sucker for that. Plus the 24-hour front desk and Security [24-hour]. They're serious about keeping things secure. A little unsettling if you start seeing those cameras everywhere like in a bad dystopian movie, but hey, better safe than sorry, right?
Cleanliness and Safety (The Covid Era):
Look, let's face it: the world's a germ-fest these days. I was paying extra attention to this. Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Rooms sanitized between stays… They were definitely saying the right things. Felt clean, but you know, it’s that mental battle you have. Did the cleaning actually happen? I’m a bit of a germaphobe, so I brought wipes. I did get that hand sanitizer out a few times, just to be on the safe side. The staff, too, seemed to be following protocols. Staff trained in safety protocol is important, like…really important. They've made an effort, and it shows.
The Room:
Now, the rooms… They’re non-smoking, which is essential, because I'm a bit of a clean freak, and I need Air conditioning everywhere. And the bed? Comfortable, and the extra long bed was a blessing! Plenty of space to sprawl out. I loved having tons of space to move around, and the sofa let me chill. Separate shower/bathtub? Nice touch. Refrigerator? Gotta have it for those late night snacks!
There were some minor imperfections. The blackout curtains weren't perfect (a tiny sliver of light), but that’s me being picky. And the view from the high floor? Well, it wasn't stunning but there was something nice about it..
Internet Access: Wi-Fi – The Modern-Day Oxygen
Free Wi-Fi is a must today. I get twitchy if I can't get online. Thankfully, the Wi-Fi [free] in the room was fine. Fast enough to stream my shows and check emails. Internet access – wireless – All you need. I didn't even bother with Internet access – LAN. Internet services are ok.
Dining, Drinking, and Snacking:
Okay, food. The Breakfast [buffet] was… typical buffet fare. Solid, but nothing to write home about. The Coffee/tea in restaurant was decent to get me going. Breakfast takeaway service – that was a win. Sometimes, you just want to grab something and go. The Asian breakfast and Asian cuisine in restaurant probably existed, but I wasn't feeling terribly adventurous.
The Snack bar was helpful for grabbing a quick bite though.
Things to do (and not do):
This is where things got a little… bland. There's a Fitness center. I’ll be honest, I didn’t step foot in it. I was on vacation! There's a Swimming pool [outdoor], which was inviting (but I didn't even have time) The best part? The pool with view? You betcha! I spent a glorious hour just letting the sun soak into my face. Pure, unadulterated bliss. That. Was. Heaven.
Don't expect a full-blown spa experience. There’s no mention of Body scrub, Body wrap, or even something cool things like Foot bath. Massage? Nada. Spa/sauna? Sadly, no.
Services and Conveniences:
They had a lot of the usual suspects. The concierge was helpful. Daily housekeeping, yay! Dry cleaning, laundry service, and ironing service are essential – for me at least, because I travel with a suitcase full of “maybe I’ll wear this.”
For the kids:
Family/child friendly - Good to know!
Getting Around:
Free car park [on-site] - that's always a win!
The Verdict:
So, is the TownePlace Suites in Mount Pleasant the ultimate paradise? No. But it's a very solid, comfortable, and, dare I say, pleasant stay. It's clean, safe, and they’re making an effort to cater to all kinds of guests. And if you're looking for a decent place near Charleston, with a nice pool to unwind at the end of the day, you could definitely do worse. The imperfections? They're part of the charm, the truth is, everything is OK.
My Official Rating: 4 out of 5 stars (minus a half-star for the slightly underwhelming buffet and no spa.)

(5 мин пешком!)Alright, here's the deal. I'm supposed to be planning a trip to the TownPlace Suites in Charleston, Mt. Pleasant… but honestly, I'm already half-checked-out. Vacations? They're a minefield of potential disaster, aren't they? Here's my attempt, but expect it to unravel faster than a cheap thread:
Charleston Chaos: A Tentative Itinerary (May Contain Spontaneity)
Day 1: Arrival and Mild Panic
- 14:00 (ish): Fly (or drive if you're brave) into Charleston International (CHS). Ugh, the airport. Smells of… something… and always makes me feel like I'm in a particularly sterile waiting room for the apocalypse. I've pre-booked a rental car. Let’s hope it's not sentient and decides it doesn't like me.
- 15:30: Arrive at TownePlace Suites Charleston Mt. Pleasant. Okay, gotta find it. Hopefully, the GPS doesn't lead me into a swamp. I swear, technology… sometimes I feel like I'm just feeding it my panic. Check-in. Pray for a room that isn't facing the dumpster. Always a gamble.
- 16:00-17:00: Unpack. This is the moment of truth. Am I REALLY going to use that "travel-sized" shampoo? Probably not. Scope out the room. Is it clean? (Fingers crossed.) Is the AC actually working? This is critical in South Carolina.
- 17:00-18:00: Grocery shopping. Gotta stock up on essentials, like… well, anything I might forget. And snacks. Crucial snacks. Gotta find some decent iced tea, local if possible. The heat is a serious enemy.
- 18:30: Dinner at a restaurant. Ugh, decision paralysis! I'm thinking something casual. Maybe Husk for a fancy meal and not just the place is popular and has good reputation or Tavern & Table for a nice sunset view. Oh, or maybe just order pizza and eat it in bed? The siren song of the bed is strong.
- 19:30: Sunset stroll. If I survive making a decision for dinner that is. I mean I still have time. Gotta find a good sunset spot. I'll probably just end up sitting on a bench, eating ice cream, and staring at the water.
- 21:00: Collapse into bed. Hopefully, no screaming children next door. Or maybe a really loud thunderstorm – I love those! Catch up on some reading… Or just scroll endlessly through my phone, fueled by regret.
Day 2: History, Hoaxes, and Heat
- 08:00: Wake up. Probably from a nightmare about the coffee machine in the hotel being out of order.
- 09:00: Breakfast. The continental breakfast could be a delightful culinary experience or a bland pile of lukewarm despair.
- 10:00: Explore Historic Charleston. I am going to try to go on a walking tour of the historic district. I'll probably get lost or distracted by a dog, but the effort is there. I'm going to try to feel "cultured". Stop by Rainbow Row. Pictures needed. It is required.
- 12:00: Lunch. Trying to grab some southern food for lunch, that is what I heard, and maybe something with shrimp and grits.
- 13:00: Tour of Fort Sumter. Because history, and because apparently, they have boat tours. Hopefully, I don't get seasick. I hate being on boats and ships.
- 15:00: The heat is a killer in the summer, time to hang out in the hotel. Maybe read a book, take a nap, or just sit in the AC.
- 18:00: Dinner. Maybe try to find a restaurant that is nearby.
- 20:00: Go to bed. I wonder if I will sleep well after the heat.
Day 3: Beaches, Books, and… More Snacks
- 08:00: Wake up. Hopefully, the coffee machine is still working.
- 09:00: Breakfast. Gotta eat some eggs for breakfast to feel full.
- 10:00: Head to the beach! Isle of Palms or Sullivan's Island, the ultimate choice. Maybe I'll get attacked by seagulls and end up hating the whole experience. Who knows? Beach is the goal. Get some sun, wade in the water, and try not to think about the impending sunburn.
- 12:00: Lunch. Gotta have lunch at the beach, of course.
- 14:00: Visit a bookstore. I have to find a local bookstore. I love books.
- 16:00: Time for a nap, gotta recover after the beach.
- 18:00: Dinner. I'm sure there are a lot of amazing restaurants in Charleston!
- 20:00: I think I will go and watch some TV in the hotel tonight.
Day 4: Departure and Delusions of Calm
- 09:00: Pack up. The dreaded moment of packing. Always seems like the best things are crammed into the last hour before departure.
- 10:00: One last Charleston breakfast. Maybe a bagel, and a coffee. Gotta get that last taste of Charleston.
- 11:00: Check out. Wish me luck.
- 12:00: Head to the airport. Please, please, please let the flight be on time. Please, please, please. (I'm not even asking for a good experience, just on time.)
- 13:00: Fly out. Hopefully, I will be back home soon!
Post-Trip Ramblings:
Okay, so I said this was a plan. In reality? It’s more like throwing a handful of ideas against a wall and seeing what sticks. I fully expect to deviate wildly. I'll probably spend half the time just wandering aimlessly, fueled by sheer caffeine and a deep-seated fear of missing out. I'm already anticipating the little catastrophes – the lost sunglasses, the forgotten phone charger, the mosquito bites that will become my new personality. Honestly, I’m probably going to come back more stressed than when I left. But hey, at least I’ll have some stories, right? And maybe… just maybe… a tan. Or a good nap. That would be nice. Either way, I fully expect to be back to reality, soon. I’ll give updates… if I remember to. And if I have Wi-Fi. Wish me luck! Or, you know, just a vacation from my vacation. That would be perfect.
Pleasant…
- Fort Sumter:
- Charleston City Market:
- Magnolia Plantation and Gardens:
- Rainbow Row:
- Shrimp and Grits:
- She-crab soup:
- Lowcountry Boil:
